• 2027 Commission Elections - Nominations open Canada Day (Wednesday, July 1st) and close BC Day (Monday, August 3rd).
• 2026 Player Awards Voting - Member Online Voting opens Tuesday Noon, July 14, 2026 and closse Friday Night 11:59 p.m. PT, July 17, 2026.

• Election Voting Begins – Saturday, August 15, 2026 
• Election Voting Ends – Monday, August 17, 2026 
• Results Announced by – Saturday, August 22, 2026

The first four positions (2-year terms for 2027-2028) for the WESA 2026 Commission are up for election, in accordance with the WESA Bylaws located in the WESA Governing Manual:

1. League Commissioner; 
2. Membership Commissioner;
3. Communications Commissioner;
4. Special Events Commissioner;
   
   5. Technology Commissioner is an appointed position (November 2026).

EXPECTATIONS

As a WESA Commission Member, you are expected to be available to attend a minimum of one commission meeting per month, typically on a weeknight, participate in ongoing discussions between meetings, answer questions from Members, and oversee the items assigned to the role for which you are elected.  For a description of each role, please see the WESA Governing Manual (page 15).

HOW TO NOMINATE YOURSELF

Please speak with a current or former member of the Commission to explore the duties and expectations of the position you are considering.  We are all volunteers and want to nurture the best possible experience for our fellow members.

Eligible WESA Members (that means everyone who has paid their membership fees, is assigned to a 2026 team as an active playing Member, or be an Associate or a Lifetime Member), may nominate themselves for any one of the above positions. All you need to do is:

1.  Starting Wednesday 12:00 a.m. PT, July 01, 2026, and no later than Monday 11:59 p.m. PT, August 03, 2026 , send an email, indicating for which one position you would like to run. Attention to the Electoral Officers, email to  Commission (at) WESA.net 
2. Include a short bio (no more than 1,000 words), that we will publish online for everyone to see, explaining why you think you would be good at the position.  You could also include things like the number of years you have played, skills you would bring to the role, related and or relevant experience, etc.; and
3. Provide a high-resolution recent head & shoulders full face photo so even those people who are not familiar with your name, but think you are amazing, may still vote for you.

IMPORTANT: Should your bio not be received by Monday 11:59 p.m. PT, August 03, 2026, your nomination will not be included on the ballot.

• Awards Voting Begins from a voting link sent from Election Buddy – Tuesday 12:00 p.m. PT, July 14, 2026 

• Awards Voting Ends – Friday 11:59 p.m. PT, July 17, 2026 

• Results Announced at Awards Banquet – Saturday, September 12, 2026

Starting from Tuesday noon, July 14, 2026, until Friday night 11:59 p.m. PT, July 18, 2026, all current members will have the opportunity to vote online for fellow members in their Tier in these five individual award categories:

• Most Valuable Player;

• Best Offensive Player;

• Best Defensive Player;

• Rookie of the Year; and

• Rick Berg Sportsperson of the Year.

1. Between July 2nd to 10th, the Coach Squads reviewed all league players from across their Tiers and each submitted names from players on teams excluding their own team—in preferential order—of their top three nominees for each category.

2. All nominees listed first received 3 points; the next nominee received 2 points; and the third nominee received 1 point.

3. Then the top three nominees from all nominees in each category then advance to the ballot stage where the entire membership can vote online for their top choices within their Tier.
