WELCOME BACK TO WESA

We are making some changes to our league structure for 2025 in  response to member feedback, and we are excited to share them with you.

We heard from members that the width of the skill gap in T1 was making the game feel less accessible and that developing players weren't getting the opportunities they needed to learn and love the game.

We believe addressing these two concerns below maximizes the likelihood of enhancing the overall member experience:

  1. reducing the skill gap within each tier; and
  2. more equitably allocating players to the tier where they are most likely to play with other players of similar NQ (NAGAAA "North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance" Questions), Softball IQ, and Experience.

We believe very strongly that focussing on maximizing overall member experience is the best path forward for ensuring the long term sustainability of the league.

Our updated Tiers for 2025 are:

Tier 1
You are a beginner or developing player who has not yet mastered the fundamentals of the game.  Or maybe you are an established player whose focus is on mentoring and passing on your love of the game and you appreciate a slower-paced game.

Tier 2
You have a grasp of the fundamentals of the game, can safely field line-drives and medium velocity hits, and can run bases strategically. You are content with less dynamic gameplay than in Tier 3 and look forward to being on the field with players of a similar skill level, but of varying amounts of experience.

Tier 3
You have a solid grasp not only of individual fundamentals, but also understand the flow of the game, enjoy an efficient fluid fast-paced game, and can safely field high velocity hits.

All Tiers
WESA is a recreational sports league.  As such, players should expect healthy, positive, social competition in all three tiers; the primary differentiator being the level of skill and speed at which the game is played in each tier.
